The trustees and management committee are very proud that Fairford Community Centre achieved Hallmark Stage 1 in January 2010, and Stage 2 in November 2010, with a commendation to the Trustees for "a very well-managed hall with an enthusiastic and dedicated committee." The Trustees are now working towards Hallmark Stage 3.
Hallmark is the quality standard scheme for Village and Community Halls. It is a national scheme operating in 20 counties, aiming to promote best practice for village and community hall management committees.
The scheme helps management to improve access to services and facilities in the community, and can be used as a benchmark of the quality of management within a community hall, giving confidence that it is well run.
In Gloucestershire, the Hallmark Scheme is run by the GRCC in partnership with a team of trained volunteer assessors who are themselves members of management committees. There are three different sections or levels which must be completed in order:
- Hallmark 1 - Charity administration and management. This level also focuses good practice around hiring arrangements and booking procedures, insurance and maintenance of the hall.
- Hallmark 2 - Health, safety, security and licenses. This level focuses on Health & Safety, fire safety, security and licensing arrangements.
- Hallmark 3 - Social awareness, community, forward planning and development.
